Hi Jeanne,
In addition to what has been said so far, I usually pack leftovers from dinner in a container, and microwave it at work, when I work. Another meal I love is cottage cheese and fruit. As for snacks, the suggestions made are great. I also like roast beef and swiss cheese roll-ups.

I agree with what Lynn said. Planning is key, but that doesn't always happen. Things I like to take for lunch are spinach salad with chicken, cheese and some sliced almonds. I also love taking turkey breast with some laughing cow cheese and make turkey and cheese rolls. Packed with protein, calcium and low in fat and calories. If I know that my day will be busy or long I might add a greek yogurt or some string cheese.

I have had a positive day so far. Went over to my sister's and helped her empty a storage room of things that belonged to me that she was storing for me, before I got the basement. Tomorrow, I will empty the car out. I have several crates of books, two bags and a box of clothes, and a box of toys for when my Munchkins come to town, so that they have some stuff to play with.
Tonight, Mom is coming over to play Scrabble. Other than being extremely annoying and nagging all the time, she only likes to play Scrabble with us when she comes to town.

This "commuter marriage" is okay, but it has its moments, believe me.
Anxious to see him, and to get going on the house. We will be picnicing on Monday afternoon for sure.

Jeanne, when was your surgery? Looks like you have been on the boards for a while.
I find (at almost 3 years out) that the key lies in planning. Sometimes I do better than others, for sure. But for work hours I have very defined times to eat so I pack my snacks and lunch accordingly. If for some reason I eat more food earlier in the day....that's it. When it's gone, it's gone.
It sounds like you may be able to eat at your desk or at "off" times thru the day which poses a different issue. Indeed, we can eat more empty calories if we graze, so this is something to watch out for. Does it help you to have a water bottle or beverage handy? That can help me to keep my oral fixation going, without upping the number of calories per day.
Also, be sure to focus on protein even for your snacks. Same old same old, I know ~ no magic to it.
And finally, a tip that I read on another board recently reminded me of this: The more we DECLINE the goodies and things we are better off not eating (even "healthy" foods at the wrong times, or when we have already had enough) - the easier it gets. Success begets success!

I will probably repost this next week as the boards might be dead over the weekend.
I am ready to really give this my all. I have had so many head problems since before my knee surgery and I am working on them, but now I need to focus back on my weight.
I have no problem at home but when I am in work I find myself grazing.
I need some ideas of what to take that will satisfy me.
Any help is appreciated.

Good Morning Lynn and PA,
Got up early, and fell asleep in my rocking chair. Those naps just happen when I am exhausted, and I have been lately.
Today, I put a smoked chicken in the crock pot, and invited Mom over for dinner and Scrabble. If she accepts, I'll invite my sponsor over too.
I'm heading over to my sister's in a little while to retrieve some stuff she's been storing in her spare rooms upstairs. Now that I have a basement, I can store them down there. One is a high chair, the other is a toddler's tricycle that you push like a stroller. Then, there are some crates of books from my teaching years. I have to go through them, and see what I can give to my daughter, and see what needs to be pitched.
Need to get moving.

Welcome to the PA Forum and as has been said, it's perfectly normal to feel a sense of fear at this stage of the game, from the time of approval and/or being given an actual date of surgery, it's an emotional roller coaster ride for most of us.
The realities are very likely that you will wake up and for a time afterwards you will be greatly perplexed as to how you will ever manage to get in the amount of fluids you need to get in, never mind the protein quota your surgeon suggests for you and it will take time to navigate the sometimes choppy waters of early post-WLS days and weeks, but the results, they will astound you and you will look back and remember those early days with awe that you made it through them.
You can talk yourself into anxiety over what might be, or you can trust that you choose your surgeon wisely, that he has the skills to get you to where you hope to find yourself living a healthier and fuller life one day real soon.
As for head hunger, you will first need to recognize that is what you are experiencing and then find ways to distract yourself, the way a person who quits smoking has to do in order to continue not to smoke. Maybe keep a journal of how you are feeling when the "hunger" hits, so you can see what might be triggering your feelings to eat, or go for a walk, make a phone call to a friend, there are many ways to get through head hunger and not everyone has that issue.
As has been said, a good support network is key to ongoing success within this journey, so find one for yourself and there is always this forum, where people are ready to help you continue successing long after the day you join us on the bench. . .
One last suggestion, take photos of yourself the morning of your surgery, front and side views and measurements and than monthly on the date take the same photo and measurements so you can see your progress, as so often our minds (and sometimes the scale) plays tricks with us.
Very soon you will be shopping for a whole new wardrobe and feeling the joys of living life less weighed down.
